500 Starved Rock & Matthiessen Calendars Sold Thanks to Community Support

We’ve Been Keeping a Secret…

I’m thrilled to finally share the news—last weekend during Eagle Watch Weekend, the Starved Rock Foundation reached our goal and sold our 500th Starved Rock & Matthiessen 2025 Calendar! The 2025 calendar is now SOLD OUT! This milestone wouldn’t have been possible without the incredible support from everyone who purchased a calendar, contributed to the annual fundraiser, spread the word, and championed the parks we all love.

A few special shoutouts are in order:

-Thank you to the Miller Group Charitable Trust, whose generous commitment to match every calendar sold doubled the impact of each purchase. Their support propelled this fundraiser to new heights, helping us achieve a record-breaking number of calendars sold.

-The calendar is made possible by the talented park photographers and visitors who donated their stunning images. Thank you to everyone who submitted and contributed your beautiful work to help showcase the natural beauty of Starved Rock and Matthiessen.

-Our dedicated regional partners played a vital role by hosting calendar sales at 13 locations through 11 organizations, all committed to supporting our parks. Their partnership was crucial to our success:

-LeRocher Bookstore and Gift Shop by the Starved Rock Foundation

-Eagle Watch Weekend Table by the Starved Rock Foundation

-Burgoo Festival Table in Utica by the Starved Rock Foundation

-Starved Rock Lodge Gift Shop by Starved Rock Lodge & Conference Center

    - Bruce & Ollies at The Bickerman Building

    - Starved Rock Country Welcome Center by Heritage Corridor Destinations

    - Prairie Fox Books

    - Heritage Harbor

    - Verucchi's Ristorante

    - Lock 16 Cafe and Visitor Center

    - CatsEye

    - A Mess of Things

    -Online by Starved Rock Hikers

-A well-deserved thank you to Starved Rock Foundation board member and volunteer, Mike Toohey. He managed regional distribution, coordinated countless vendor trips, and oversaw inventory. I truly believe we wouldn’t have reached our goal without his tireless efforts and commitment.

A formal donation ceremony will take place in May 2025, where we’ll share more details alongside IDNR officials, Foundation board members, volunteers, calendar contributors, and regional partners.

Let’s give one more round of applause to the Miller Group Charitable Trust, our incredible regional partners, Mike Toohey, and everyone who supported this fundraiser. On behalf of the entire Starved Rock Foundation, thank you for giving back to the beautiful parks we proudly call home.

See you on the trails,

Matthew Klein
