Since 1991, the Starved Rock Historical & Educational Foundation has been the heartbeat behind many of the park's most beloved programs—from guided canyon hikes and Visitor Center exhibits to quarterly newsletters and special events—all delivered by dedicated volunteers and funded through membership support.

As a member, you're not just supporting trails and signage; you're empowering educational experiences that inspire thousands of visitors each year at Illinois' most visited state park, as featured on WTTW News and in countless Best of the Midwest lists.

With help from our members, over $450,000 has been donated back to Starved Rock over the past three decades—and we're far from done.

Membership starts as low as $25/year for individuals or $30/year for families, with convenient monthly options and lifetime membership available. Each tier unlocks meaningful perks: invitations to members-only hikes and events, exclusive behind-the-scenes updates, and the lasting satisfaction of preserving 2,630 acres of breathtaking canyons, waterfalls, and historic landscapes carved by a glacier-fed torrent 14,000 years ago.

ABOUT

We are the nonprofit organization dedicated to serving Starved Rock State Park in North Central Illinois. Our volunteer program operates the Visitor Center, providing interpretive hikes, educational materials, and events. Funding for park improvements comes from memberships, donations, and our volunteer-run LeRocher Book Store. With an elected board, we've donated over $450,000 in the past 30+ years.
